The Autobot City Bank

So I've finally decided to become active on my own blog, since it seems to be a professional requirement for the animation industry these days...  Let's start things off with my day job at Bix Pix!

You may have seen some of Hasbro's Kre-O youtube videos.  If you haven't, go watch them NAO!

From Transformers to Battleship, if it's stop motion, I worked on it!

For our latest short "Quest for Energon" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jucj9IJFKYU&list=UUDtYGb16ru5UWC78xaaO34A&index=0&feature=plcp) my largest contribution is probably the center piece building, the Autobot City Bank.  This was by far the most complicated structure I have had to build yet, and it was a fun architectural exercise.

First go.  Unlike most of the buildings I've made previously, this one had to be easily breakable for the animator.  It also required all four walls, unlike the 1-2 walls of the background buildings usually required.

The bank went through various aesthetic modifications to meet the needs of the film.  The first attempt had a front that was far too busy and didn't look good with (spoiler alert) the Constructicons entering the scene and combining into Devastator.  So I modified it into something simpler.  (Keep It Simple St00pid!)

While still in the planning stages, there was a chance that we'd have a shot of the interior as the roof was ripped off.  Here I prepared miniature props to reflect the full scale scene of the bank interior.

Final bank, locked down and ready for animating!  I also made the flag!

So hopefully that gave you some insight into what I do.  Huge props to Karni, Tim, Jonathan, Kelli, and Dan for making this film possible!
